Senior Digital Ad Ops Manager
Summary
Reports to: Digital Media Director
Hands on keyboard Digital Ad Ops, working in conjunction with Programmatic Traders and Site Direct to tackle all Display channel work. Along with other hands-on keyboard teams across Social and Search, they comprise the full paid digital department. Paid digital team is a subset of broader agency paid media team, inclusive of offline media. The Senior Digital Ad Ops Manager serves not only as a technical subject matter lead, but also a co-departmental digital lead within the agency. Aids the Digital Director, in collaboration with the remainder of Display team, in development, execution, optimization and reporting of paid display strategy across all tactics. Comfortable leading approach in ad server and discussion around whether certain approaches are executed in ad server or in DSP, potentially related to
geographies, audiences target, creative strategies, etc. Asks questions to understand, listens carefully to identify opportunities and issues, and proactively brings ideas and solutions to team. Manages functional workflow and direct report(s) / supplemental help. Keeps on top of industry trends and shares key
takeaways with agency and client teams.
Core Responsibilities
Account Service / Leadership (~30% of time)
- Co-lead Digital team, including primary management of specific cross-channel clients & initiatives (i.e. cross-channel fee structures & budgets, direct data partnerships, etc.)
- Lead Ad Ops practice, including serving as primary client point of contact, manage direct report(s) / supplemental help & workflow
- Train & mentor direct report(s) & junior team, lead growth path & seeking opportunities, keeping an open dialogue including ongoing 1:1’s & performance evaluations
- Work to establish mutual understanding of channel, departmental & agency role in overall project process & scope
- Maintain boundaries of scope across clients & external partners, keeping a business growth mindset
- Develop agency tools & process, across channels & clients
- Support new business efforts
- Maintain key industry relationships, develop industry POV’s, tech & tool reviews, onboarding of new platforms
- Lead aggregation, maintenance & distribution of cross channel specs
In Platform / Hands-on Keyboard (~60% of time)
- Translate complex client inputs into in platform hierarchies & strategies, leading conversation to determine which components of approaches belong in which display media platforms
- Activate video, audio, OOH, native, high impact, banner, email, advertorial
- Ensure test approaches are set up in a meaningful way
- Lead facilitation of supplemental display efforts (brand studies, dynamic banners, etc.)
- Lead holistic pixeling & conversion set-up across channels, translating client goals, KPI’s & CTA’s into onsite set-up
- Support generation of traffic sheets aligned with tactical plans, update as buys change, build & update in platform campaigns accordingly
- Support implementation of 3rd party brand safety & ad verification
- Lead clear communication w/ Planning & Integration teams, Display teams & vendor teams regarding creative associated w/ placement, as well as placements themselves, & troubleshooting
- Ensure floodlights are pulling into internal reporting templates appropriately
- Lead quality & process standardization across clients, accounts, media channels (taxonomy, traffic sheets, billing, etc.)
- Contribute meaningful insights to cross-channel client reporting (so what, now what)
Admin (~5% of time)
- Lead holistic budgeting & budget management of media platform fees across channels
- Own cross channel taxonomy compliance & auditing
- Maintain user access to agency & client media platforms
- Maintain annual industry & platform certifications
Non-Media / Expansion (5%)
- Lead onsite pixel placement via tag management system as needed
- Lead dynamic creative configuration efforts as needed
- Support site analytics configuration & troubleshooting as needed
Qualifications
Experience
- 4-6 years of hands-on keyboard (HOK) display ad ops
- Supervising/training of junior team members
- External facing
Skills & Attributes
- Ability to navigate complex political & business impacting conversations with grace, balancing the best interests of clients, team & agency
- Ability to adapt to plan changes in real time, responding appropriately and charting course forward
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data to make informed decisions
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex in platform relationships and setups to clients and internal teams in a manner which is understood and valued by audience
- Proactive problem solver who can take the initiative to identify and resolve issues independently
- Ability to manage many campaigns at once across multiple team members, organize workloads, prioritize tasks and ensure deadlines are met
- Demonstrates remote work best practices.
Software
- Deep knowledge of digital ad ops & related platforms, including Google Campaign Manager & third-party ad verification
- Tools to organize tasks like Team’s Task Manger or other
- Proficiency in Excel
- Nice to have = tag management, site analytics, DSP, DMP

- Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $63,000 – 76,000. Where an employee or prospective employee is paid within this range will depend on, among other factors, actual ranges for current/former employees in the subject position, market considerations, budgetary considerations, tenure and standing with the Company (applicable to current employees), as well as the employee’s/applicant’s skill set, level of experience, and qualifications.
